9:27 a.m. - 2006-04-17 All I know is that, according to "What To Expect...," bloody and stuffy and runny noses are a common side effect of pregnancy (apparently, your soft tissues swell and the blood vessels in them dilate, much like your cervix does, in preparation for pushing the baby out). However, anecdotal evidence gleaned from my own unscientific survey of women I know who are or have been pregnant suggests that exactly 0% of women have ever heard of or experienced this. I envy you people. This morning, my bathroom closely resembled a crime scene after one failed attempt to blow my stuffy nose resulted in a major blood loss. Seriously, it's freaking repulsive. I'm in my second trimester! I'm 1/3 of the way there. I'm waiting for the "honeymoon" aspects of this time to kick in, but evidently, my nausea and fatigue haven't yet gotten the message that they're supposed to hit the road. Alrighty, my brain has shut down, perhaps from excessive blood loss, and I can't think of a single additional thing to say, so I'm signing off and going to look for a snack.
