It's All in The Glow
Ok. So just what *is* pregnancy glow? I'm being told more and more that I have it -- which, don't get me wrong, sounds like quite a nice compliment -- but I look at myself and see a pasty, tired person trying to cover up zits with lots of makeup. And it's not just that I can't see the glow in me -- I could never see it in any pregnant woman. Am I just super-oblivious? If pregnant women glowed in the dark, that I could probably detect.

I'm 16 weeks along -- meaning I'm starting my FIFTH month, which is absolutely unfathomable to me. I don't feel like I look much bigger (and the scale seems to agree), but the extra weight is making breathing difficult. I've never weighed this much before, and my body's just (I guess) not used to it. My mom said she felt the same with with both of her pregnancies, so for once, maybe this isn't my imagination running wild.

Over the weekend, we caught up with my parents for dinner at Gary and Shay's place. I brought along the fetal heart monitor, since my dad hadn't heard the baby's heartbeat yet. He loved hearing it after he got over his initial squeamishness (he thought he'd have to put his ear up to my abdomen, or god forbid, something even more intimate). We explained that there was a machine to do this, requiring no touching or nudity, and he was better. (This is a man who still listens to casette tapes, because he doesn't own a CD player -- they're too hard to figure out. He also only recently learned how to compose an email -- for a while, he could only communicate with you if you sent him mail first, so he could hit "reply.")

I got in early today, and haven't left the building or seen the light of day since this morning, so I'm taking off and heading to the maternity section of Old Navy. Ciao for now.
