10:33 a.m. - 2006-06-29 It's been downhill ever since. No doubt you know by now of the torrential rains we've had here in DC. On Monday morning, it became a too-real nightmare when I walked down into the basement at 4:15 a.m. and felt the carpet squish under my toes. I had to be downtown at 5:30 a.m. for my volunteer shift for the SHRM conference (more on that later), and Joe had jury duty at 9:00 a.m. Since I was the only one who could reasonably get out of my obligations without fear of a jail time penalty, I stayed home to deal with the flood -- the flood that didn't really get resolved until about 3:30 yesterday, thanks to the inept management of our condo association. Ugh, it's been a crazy, stressful, wet week, and I've been teetering on the verge of a meltdown since Monday afternoon. Ice cream has helped, but it hasn't been the cure as in fiascos past. Right now, I'm in a bad, bad mood.
