W is for Whore, Part II
As I was checking out of the doctor's office this morning, the receptionist decided to schedule the rest of my remaining OB appointments. As she got into the September dates, she told me the visits would be weekly, and I'd start to have internal exams (right now, it's just pee in a cup, weight, blood pressure and baby's heartbeat). The first available doctor in September would be Dr. Hill (the guy who's been my GYN for years), and she asked if it would be ok for a man to examine me. I told her, sure, didn't matter to me, and besides, "Who hasn't been down there?" All the other women in the waiting room started snickering and I had to quickly defend myself. "That's not what I meant! I mean, I had in-vitro, and so many people have been down there for all the procedures." I wanted to add, "I'm not a whore! Really!" But I think their minds were made up already.
